Activate Street Team!
Want to do some Heavy Petting? We’d like to invite you to join the street team of fellow friends and fans who distribute posters and handbills at live shows or help with other creative promotions for The Heavy Pets.
The Heavy Pets are a nationally touring band that depends on fans like you to spread the good word about the band. Please understand that offering to help out on the street team is a very important job and a responsibility we take SERIOUSLY.
If you do not have time to hang posters in key locations, distribute handbills at other shows in your area before the band arrives, then come see us and enjoy yourself, but don’t volunteer. However, if you do have the time and this sounds like fun, then welcome to the team!
I. Heavy Petting:
If you are promoting a THP show you will receive one spot on the guestlist, provided you do the following:
1. Enter your email address in the box below
2. Become a fan of our Facebook page and follow us on Twitter @theheavypets for concert updates and upcoming shows. Please become an active friend.
3. Hand out promotional materials in your area:
Shows/Events: One of the best places to distribute handbills is at shows in your area. Check www.jambase.com, www.pollstar.com and other local publications to find these events. We’ll give also give you a hand with a list of shows in your area where we think you should pass out flyers. You can also place handbills and posters inside these venues if you ask and receive permission.
Gathering Spots: Distribute posters and place handbills on college campuses, at record stores, coffee shops, head shops, bars, and other places where music fans frequently visit. Please be aware of local ordinances regarding placing posters in public places and ask store owners for permission before placing anything in their store. We don’t want to break the law.
4. Create a positive buzz surrounding the band:
Word-of-mouth goes a long way in promoting good music. Just talking about THP and their shows with your friends introduces new listeners to the community. Also refer us to your friends on Facebook or twit a few nice things about us.
Trading music is another way to introduce people to the band. We’re happy to have the music being traded, but understand that the live shows are for trading or giveaway purposes only. Please respect the band - do not sell their shows.
5. Tell us what you did. Once you complete your assignment send us a follow-up email with the following:
The name and location where you posted flyers or passed out handbills, AND take a photo.
A list of any local press/advertising you notice for the band/show/event.
